No THC.
No CBD.
There’s something quite magical about working with plants that have been used for generations not only as herbal allies for our health, but as part of ritual and spiritual practice. 🌿✨ And if you’ve never worked with an herbal smoking blend before, you might be wondering: what does it actually feel like?
Unlike cannabis, these herbs aren’t typically used to create an intense intoxicating high. The experience tends to be much more subtle. With our blend Petal Haze, think calm, dreamy, relaxed, grounded, sensual, and maybe a little floaty rather than noticeable head-high most feel with THC.
This blend (Petal Haze) brings together seven herbs, each with its own traditional uses, energetic associations, and character:
🌿 Mullein - The grounding foundation of the blend. Mullein has a long history in folk herbalism, particularly surrounding the respiratory system, providing support for coughs and irritated throats, while magically it has been associated with protection, courage, spirit work, and warding. In smoking blends, its soft, fluffy leaves provide a neutral base that allows the more aromatic herbs to take center stage.
🌹 Rose - Soft, floral, sensual, and unmistakably Venusian. Rose has long been associated with love, beauty, attraction, sensuality, self-love, and emotional healing. Its aromatic nature gives herbal smoking blends a comforting floral quality, while energetically bringing that heart-centered, intimate feeling that for this specific blend, pairs beautifully with damiana.
🌼 Chamomile - A gentle herb traditionally used as a calming nervine and for digestive support. Magically, chamomile carries associations with the Sun, peace, purification, luck, prosperity, protection, and restful sleep. Within this blend, it helps to create that settled, mellow, end-of-the-day character.
💜 Lavender - One of my favorite herbs for peace and cleansing magic. Lavender is rich in aromatic compounds such as linalool and linalyl acetate and has become most commonly associated with relaxation. Energetically, it represents purification, protection, tranquility, love, sleep, and dream work. Its unmistakable aromatics also make the smoking ritual feel especially magical and dreamy.
🔥 Damiana - This is where things get a little more spicy😈. Traditionally used as both a nervine and aphrodisiac, damiana also has a reputation for creating a warm, relaxed, sensual, sometimes mildly euphoric or dreamy vibes (although everyone responds differently!). Magically, damiana is associated with passion, attraction, confidence, pleasure, love, and desire.
🐈 Catnip - I know what you're thinking! Is this the same plant my cat loses its mind over? Yes, but humans experience catnip very differently. Traditionally used as a gentle relaxing nervine, catnip brings in a mellow, loose, sleepy quality to the blend rather than producing an intoxicating energetic effect the way it does for cats. In folk magic, it carries associations with love, attraction, happiness, friendship, beauty, and gentle protection. (This is one of my favorite herbs to work with magically for attracting all of my heart's desires!😉)
🌙 Passionflower — One of the dreamier, heavier herbs in the blend. Passionflower has a long history of traditional use as a calming and sedating nervine and brings with it a slower, more tranquil, heavy, or dreamy feeling, especially alongside chamomile and catnip. Energetically, it is associated with peace, harmony, sleep, emotional healing, dream work, and releasing restless energy.
Blended together, this creates a blend that feels perfect for:
✨ Relaxing & unwinding
🌙 Dreamy & slightly floaty sensations
🌹 Sensual & heart-centered activities
🕯️ Grounding & ritualistic activities
😌 Potentially sleepy or heavy feels
🔥 Warm & mellow rather than intensely intoxicating
Energetically, these plants come together beautifully for rituals around peace + protection + love + sensuality + relaxation + dream work + releasing the energy of the day.
Think less “I’m trying to get high” and more “the day is over, the candles are lit, the music is playing, and I’m ready to let everything go & unwind.” 🌙🕯️🌿
And that’s one of the things I love about working with plants: we can explore their traditional herbal uses and chemistry while also appreciating the folklore, symbolism, ritual, and spiritual traditions our fellow humans have woven around them for generations.
✨ A little herbalist reality check: Herbal smoke is still smoke. Burning and inhaling ANY plant material still produces particulates and respiratory irritants, so smoking herbs should not be considered an effective way to receive their medicinal benefits, for this we turn to other offerings such as teas, tinctures, decoctions, oxymel's etc (the list goes on!). Experiences are subjective and can vary from person to person. Some herbs may also increase drowsiness or interact with certain medications.
